Another thing... have you got a CD/RW drive on the same IDE channel - if
so that could be the problem as some of them prefer to be set as the
master. I have seen problems with the 103s and Sony CDR on the same bus,
but that was in relation to it crashing.
Have you got any other IDE devices other than the DVD and Hard drive? If
so remove them so the DVD and hard drive are the only two IDE devices. Set
the HDD as the MASTER using jumper settings, and place that on the primary
channel (I assume it is already) and put the DVD on the secondary bus set
as the MASTER. (From what I can remember the Pioneers have two other
factory only jumper setings next to CS, MS,& SL. Dont touch those, OK!)
If that's how you've got it, set the Pioneer as a slave on the Primary
bus. Also, between changing the devices around (A) make sure if they've
been removed in device manager (except the HDD) and (B) reboot without the
device attached before trying a diffent configuration. If this doesnt work
then you've got a software problem, but it ISN'T due to drivers. You can
use them with 3 yr old ATAPI drivers if you want to. Also there was a
batch of the drives that weren't region set. It could be from that batch,
but I doubt it. Also try another IDE cable, and check this one for
inperfections.
