My desktop has a hard drive set up as C: and D:. My CD is set up as E:. I
have a 1 GB hard drive I want to add as a back up device. I know if I add
the second hard drive, it will be assigned the drive letter D. However, if
I restrict my CD to use only E: via Control Panel in Win98, will it force
the second partition on the original hard drive to F:????

Thanks

No. No matter what you do your CD WILL get bumped to F:. Removable drives
like the CD Drive are always assigned the last letters. Depending on how
you fdisk the harddrive you're going to install it will either bump your D:
drive to E: or it will leave D: as is and become E: itself. I forget how
to fdisk it so it doesn't bump the current harddrive letters. I *think* if
you fdisk it as an Extended Partition instead of Primary Partition it'll
leave your current C&D drives alone.
