Dear All

I recently tried to update the bios on my gigabyte motherboard and it ended
up failing 1/2 way through - resulting in a non-booting system.

I now have an Intel SE440BX Motherboard and am trying to update the BIOS -
to get improved AGP support so that I can install the latest drivers for my
Millennium G200 graphics card. I've tried updating the BIOS as instructed,
and again it fails (the intel board luckily has a much easier recovery
system!).

Should doing a flash upgrade to the bios be this difficult? Are there any
well known pitfalls that I'm missing out on?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Iain

boot clean (assuming in Win98 - hit CTRL while booting, choose "Command
Prompt only Safe Mode"), change to A: drive execute flash program (remember
to save old bios).

This is assuming you have the correct Bios for your motherboard model and
revision (!).

I would also remove all expansion cards if you are having this much
trouble......
Especially SCSI cards...
