I'm looking to buy a new socket 7 motherboard. I will have two floppy
drives, an IDE hard drive, a SCSI hard drive, and an IDE CD-ROM
installed. I read somewhere that between AMI and Award BIOS's that one
provides more booting versatility than the other. Apparently some can
even boot from a bootable CD-ROM.

I want to be able to choose which drive to boot from as I expect to
keep my old DOS programs on one hard drive and my Windows 95 programs
on another to avoid potential conflicts.

Unfortunately I've misplaced the article that discussed this aspect of
the BIOS's. Would someone care to update me or point me to a source
with the information?

Award is used by most motherboards. Acer & Biostar are among those who
use AMD. In late versions of the two, I don't see much difference. I
personally prefer Award. I am not familiar with the article you alude
to.
