I have a DX-4 100 with an American Megatrends 7/25/97 Release bios.
I have 2 hard drives and recently decided to start over and formated and
repartitioned the drives.
I now cannot get the cd-rom to be recognized no matter what I do. I keep
getting the error "Error: Unable to detect ATAPI CD-ROM drive CD-Rom divice
driver not loaded".
I have a Mitsumi 4X cd-rom hooked up to the IDE port on my Creative Labs
Model CT2940 Sound Blaster 16 (C16F) I could not locate my old sound card
software so I loaded the latest software from the Creative Labs website an
the system did recognize the PNP card that I have. It did make me get the
PNP Configuration Manager that I did load. I have the Mitsumi CD-Rom drive
Ver 1.51 and went to their web site and got their newer verison 1.54. My
old versions disk went bad.
My Config.Sys file has: DEVICE=C:\MTM\MTMCDAI.SYS /D:MTMIDE01
and my autoexec.bat has: C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MTMIDE01 /M:10
I have loaded dos 6.22 in the machine so far. I want to load my win95 back
in but need my cd-rom to work to do so.
Is their anyone out there that has any ideas that can help me. I would
greatly appreciate it.
Thanks Steve My emai address is me...@psn.net

Try checking the irq and address of the ide controller on your sound
card and adding them to the config.sys as a switch to the mtmcdai.sys
line. It is the /p switch. I believe that it is in the form /p:xxx,yy
where xxx is the address and yy is the irq. Or it may be /p:yy,xxx
(sorry I don't remember). If the irq is other than 14 or 15 the device
driver won't autodetect it. Use the dos 6.22 msd.exe to find out the
irq. Hope this helps.
