I've seen them at Office Depot. But I think Best Buy has a better selection.

eMachines? LOL

Friend, they are very close to bankruptcy, now trading at 20 cents/share and
they don't have a clue how to survive.

And I'd hold my breath and turn blue before buying a Compaq.

So I think your only real choice at Best Buy is to go with the HP PC. And
there is also pressure on HP to get out of the PC biz but they are still a
lot better than Comphack.

Got any Gateway Country stores near you or any MicroCenter Stores?

Yeah Lane is right don't ever buy eMachines they're probably worse that HP
and Compaq, although not bloated they're slower. If you need cheap then
substitute a Soyo K7VLM-B mobo, its got onboard video and sound, and then
you can put in a Duron 800MHz again from mwave.com), all other suggestions
are good for a good, cheap system.

Hope this helps,

Curtis

Office Depot, they're usually around $10-20 more than Best Buy though, why
don't you just tell her to try Best Buy and if they don't have it, then
worry about it. They might not be out of stock ALL the time.

In article <3b32...@flexnet239.uunt.net>, jb...@peoplepc.com says...

Believe it or not, they can be. How can a company stay in business when
everyone says "They're always out of stock" any time you mention their
name?
