I just build a new system, AMD2200, 80 gig WD, Liteon DVD and CDRW, shuttle
ak35gt2 mobo, and I had it running for awhile. Well then it just stopped
outputting to the screen, and had random boot problems. I got a higher
power, Antec true 430 PS, and got a brand new mobo after rma'ing my first
one. The new one is the same model. Well I installed everything and it was
working, Just not loading windows- so I figured I'd format. I also took off
the heatsink and reapplied AS3 because it was running hot, and I figured it
was dirty, it was. Ok so I go to boot up after reinstalling CPU/HSF and it
goes fine- I check my temps, everythings good, right about ready to restart
when.. shooffffff, everything shuts down. I'm like <explative deleted> and I
try to start it back up, nothing. The lights come on for about a second,
fans make about a half rotation, before shitting out and quitting. The
lights on the mobo come on and everything, PS starts to turn over just like
everything else, then its just dead. Any help is GREATLY appreciated,
thanks.

This kind of 'Total Failure' is many times related to the power supply or
an electrical dead short somewhere in the system. In any case, your best
bet would be to start over....especially check any jumpers that you have
installed on the board. Then install just the proc, heatsink/fan, one stick
of memory and the video card. See if you can get into the BIOS.

By installing a minimum of components, you reduce the complexity of
troubleshooting.

Well The problem was the battery on the mobo wasnt in all the way, I moved
it a little and the computer started, but now(oh god, i'm buying a mac) It
wont output anything to the monitor. I can hear it hit the floppy, and the
CD-drives, and the HD.. but something just doesnt sound right and i cant put
my finger on it. In anycase- it doesnt touch the monitor at all, but the
monitor does realize its plugged in- because instead of going into auto
screen saver thing that it does when its not plugged in, it just goes into
power-save. The keyboard LED's also dont flash on start up. Again, help
wanted, and appreciated.. thanks.
