Ideally, it should be on the CPU surface. To do so, you will need to drill
a hole on the heat sink (just above the CPU surface) just large enough to
insert the sensor through it. Some recommended to use silicon glue to glue
the sensor on the heat sink, However, if the sensor and the hole needed are
too big, this may reduce the thermal conductivity of the heat sink.
Personally, I placed my thermistor just right on top of the heat sink where
it is on top of the CPU surface.
