Subject: Painting of Computer Case

Hello, PC-Homebulder !

I want to paint Computer Case with dark-blue-color "Lacquer spray
can" for automobile.

"Lacquer painting of plastic material(Front panel of Computer Case)"
came off by touching or scratching.

"Lacquer painting of Iron material of Computer Case" came off, too !

What kind of painting product do not come off ???

Please Advice ME!

Epoxy. I am not sure it is available in spray cans though... There are epoxy
paints that stand up rather well on car chassie applications so it should have
no problem resisting finger marks. As with any project of this kind effective
cleaning of the surface
is the first part of the operation.

See here: http://www.newenglandcabinets.com/twfinishes.htm
for some info on finishes. Baked enamel is really hard,
regular polyurethane enamel is quite hard if properly applied
and looks GREAT. If you're going cheap, check out deck or
boat paint. Colors may be limited but it's made for extreme
durability. Spar Polyurethane can be used over other types
of paint for a hard finish, although it has a yellow cast
so you have to choose bluish tints of your undercoat to
compensate.

Keeping in mind that I did not ask the question (I just replied to it) I should
point out that baking enamel on a plastic case front is likely not a great
idea.

I have seen many WEBSITES that discuss this although at this time I do
not have any LINKS to forward. I am considering doing this myself.
Lacquer is out of the question as it will melt the plastic.
The WEB sites that I have visited posting this "CUSTOMIZED EFFECT"
focus mainly on graphics like flames and air brushing effects but the
basic techniques are the same. Acrylic Enamel seems to be the coating
of choice in the automotive form including the HARDENER or catalyst to
make it durable.

Spend a little time searching on the INTERNET and you will find
photos and explanations on how to do it and the correct paint to use,

the answers you received are all good, but I would like to add just
this. I presume you are spraying on the front panel without any
components inside the case.

Sorry, it's just to be sure...
