There had been a few problems with this desktop in the days before it completely went, e.g. it froze while I was browsing with Chrome, Chrome does not usually freeze. Eventually Windows would not repair. While looking in the BIOS I noticed the screen go wonky with lots of wrong characters appearing as it froze. I've never had a PC freeze while looking at the BIOS. It's gone now. It switches on, the CPU fan spins, the CDROM LED twinks a little but the familiar front panel LED no longer blinks and there's no startup bleep. This is a Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 v4.1e mobo. It has integrated graphics. Apart from saying it's a mobo fault. What else can I say?

I have not tried to swap out any components yet. That PSU is the best and newest I have but I may buy a new PSU today.

I have more detail. The system partly recovered. It passes POST now. It behaves as if it has an intermittent fault. The fault strikes after about 5 minutes or more. The effect is to freeze the system.

Ich hatte das mit den grafikfehlern auch. (VIA CLE266 chipset).
Dabei ist das RAM ist gestorben. Habe neues gekauft und die ELKOS ausgewechselt.
(vermutlich waren die ELKOS schuld). Das RAM ging auch in einem anderem MoBo nicht mehr...

Sorry, I was reading one of the german Ngs earlier...

I've had similar problems...(VIA CLE266 chipset).
The RAM had died. Did not work in another box either.
Bought a new one and swapped the MB Capacitors, too.
