SOS Aptiva Stuck on Aptiva IBM Screen and F1 does not go into CMOS setup.
and neither does removing the battery to clear the conflicting setup.

After disabling the Com 2 ( IRQ 3 )
Rebooting
Then Changing the PCI IRQ to manual IRQ 3
After rebooting the Aptiva 2153-E2N will not go past the BIOS Aptiva IBM
Screen,
and pressing F1 does nothing.

I called IBM and they, suggested that I try tapping F1 while booting for a
few minutes.
That did nothing.
They suggested I unplug the keyboard and power up, ( Got a Keyboard missing
error )
plugged the keyboard back in and still did not work.

IBM Tech Support Suggested I power off, remove the 3V Lithium battery, and
and wait for a few minutes or hours.
I tried intervals of 5, 30 minutes, and so far 12 hours.

Just tried unplugging the power supply and waiting 2 hours with the battery
out and no go..

Tried holding down the left and right mouse button during the bios boot on
some IBM systems it resets the CMOS to factory after a prompt.

Unofficially the IBM tech suggested I short out the battery terminals when
powered down and unplugged,
tried that and that too did not work..

Help Any one have this experience with Resetting the CMOS as this Model does
not have a Reset CMOS
jumper like most Motherboards.

This 2153-e2n Mother board made by ACER does not want to forget !!!!

Hello Shaw:
The problem may be something connected to the motherboard somehow worked
its way loose.
I'd suggest you remove all cards, disk drive data cables, memory and
then reseat each.
If that gives you no joy, I'm afraid you may have a dead motherboard.
