I have an old IBM Aptiva 2158-225 with bios 3.2
I want to use it to some basic Linux tasks.
It was bougt with 256 Mb PC133 ram.
I tried adding a 512 Mb module, but it will only detect it as a 256 Mb
module.
Can it really be true, that this pc can use max. 2 x 256 Mb ram ???

From the 2158 manual:
"DIMM Configurations
The 2158 system board has two DIMM sockets. A maximum of 256KB memory
may be installed. The 2163 and 2164 system board has three DIMM sockets. A
maximum of 384KB memory may be installed.
You can install 16MB, 32MB, 64MB, or 128MB PC-100 DIMM in any sockets
and with any combinations."
Sorry.

Do you have the manual as a pdf or something like that - that I can
get?

Yes I do have it PDF format. Do you want me to email it to you? If you
want, just email me at the address I have here. Just take out the
"nospam" and put in "minnesotamike".
