If i get the user to log on to the server and run launch excel or word
it installs and configures correctly. after that, the user is able to
run those apps from iGM.
If they don't do that first, they get a MsiInstaller error.
"Product: Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 -- Error 1719.
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if
the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support
personnel for assistance."
I had another admin test, and as an admin they can successfully launch
the installer/application right from iGM. This leads me to believe the
Windows Installer is intact, but inaccessible by normal users. I
believe I've checked the rights on everything I need but am missing
something.
Trying to explain to frontrange that getting users logged onto the
server presents complications I received:
"I don’t understand why that would be a complication, not all GoldMine
users need to log in, all iGoldMine users."
First, all users are iGM users. Second, it's definitely doable, but
there is no legitimate reason in my mind to show users how to access
the server. Kinda presents security issues.
Any ideas why this doesn't work? I know someone out there has
published office applications successfully through iGM.
