Can't find Excel (csv) to VCard (vcf) for Ubuntu (csv2vcf)

I have an Excel spreadsheet of personal contacts.
I want to put those contacts into my Android phone.
I'd like to use a freeware solution, if possible.

I don't want the file on the net, even for a second.
I have just Linux and Android as platforms to work with.
It seems VCARD (aka vcf) is the most universal format.

Googling for csv2vcf on Ubuntu Saucy Salamander, I
can't find csv2vcf or csv2vcard in any repository.

How do I convert csv to vcf on Ubuntu then?

That is exactly why I asked the question!
I can find documentation for csv2vcard and for csv2vcf,
but I can't find it in apt get!

For example this fails every single time I try it!
$ sudo apt-get install csv2vcf csv2vcard

Extract and run. Make sure you have required dependencies.
(read README and INSTALL)
As to not leaking your contacts to the net, good luck with

I now understand.
I downloaded it and unpacked it, and opened
the HTML file with Firefox and it seems to
try to work just fine.

My only problem now, which is unrelated, is that
it doesn't like the VCF format that Excel spits
out of Ubuntu's open office stuff.

But that's a whole different issue!

Correction:
It doesn't like the vcf that open office spits
out of an excel file.

Try libreoffice, or hex edit it (unless it's encrypted) and
see if you can spot the fault.
Write to the author.

Looks like the free version is also called a trial version with a
restriction of 10 items.
