PrintMaster Express

Is a very good publishing software to create brochures, different kinds of cards and more. It works well on Windows XP and there are reports that it works fine on Windows 7 as well.
The old freeware version is not available anymore from its homepage, but it can be downloaded here: http://freewaretips.zxq.net/rareware.html

Shadow formulated the question :
Nice of you to bring back an almost two year post to life. On the
other hand, if anybody still has an interest in downloading the old
Print Master Express 2.1 Freeware version, it can still be downloaded
from here:

!Be Warned! Even though the setup exe passed VirusTotal with 0/46
results, Avast barks at this particular file (00000054.EWI)and removes
it to the Virus Chest during the install attempt, thus the install
could not be completed. The oddity of this is that when the file is
scanned with Avast and VirusTotal by it itself, No Threat Is Found, go
figure?? I finally was able to UE it but then was only able to access
the MS Paint module of the program.

Maybe someone will have better success with it.

This is more than a simple tagline. It's a hug from me.

It uses "PEncrypt 4.0 Gamma", which is probably only used by
malware writers.
Why the fsck software programmers encript their stuff so much
I will never understand. All encryption does is slow the program down,
fill the registry with trash, and annoy crackers. It will never beat
them.
Winzip was never encrypted, was dead easy to crack, yet it
sold millions of copies. Until they started trashing it.
Scorchio!

A quick test seem to work okay in Wine, FWIW.

There was a thread in 2007 about the possible inclusion of Broderbund spyware (dssagen) and the file I have was found to be clean. I downloaded the file (PMExpress.zip) and unzipped it. The MD5 of the unzipped file (PMExpress.exe) matches the MD5 of the download I made in 2001. (This is a really old app! Windows 95; 98; NT4; 2000)

File:PMExpress.exe
Size: 8709200 bytes
MD5: 5243089CA5074C2BD0D51ACD84B8CDE9

IMO you could safely shutdown Avast and do a standard install. (I have the app installed (on Win XP) - can't recall when I last used it but IIRC it works okay.)

on 2/12/2014, Susan Bugher supposed :
Hi Susan.

Yes I already tried that, Avast stopped the program from opening and
again removed that ewi file to the Virus Chest, therefore rendering it
useless.

Susan Bugher has brought this to us :
Finally got it to load up. After shutting down Avast and installing
the program, I had to add the program folder to the two exclusions list
locations.I know it's old, but somehow I missed getting a copy of it
way back when :-)

Scanned the zip file with Avast, no problems here.
Bye for now.
