John C. recently posted about the Subtitle Workshop program on
Sourceforge, which I am comparing to Subtitle Edit.
If I'm not mistaken, JJ's post about Subtitle Workshop in May was incorrect.
It seems to me that there has been 2 different programs with the name
Subtitle Workshop.
There is the one on Sourceforge, with the old Home Page,
https://subworkshop.sourceforge.net/
and the new versions that Shadow posted about on
https://sourceforge.net/projects/subtitle-workshop-classic/files/.
There is a different program entirely with the URUWorks developer.
That Subtitle Workshop has changed its name to Tero Subtitler.
The name change is mentioned here,
https://github.com/URUWorks/TeroSubtitler#history
"URUWorks' subtitling solution began as Subtitle Workshop. In making the
distinction from the other project with the same name, the organization
is retiring that repository in favor of Tero Subtitler."

Thanks for the info, Allan.

I do have a problem with Github though, in that I always have a problem
figuring out how to download a program from that website. I downloaded
the zip file, but does it have to be compiled? If so, then the download
is worthless to me.

I did, however, download the portable, classic, updated version of
Subtitle Workshop that Shadow posted about and it works in W7 at least.
Haven't had a chance to use it on my laptop (W10) though.

If you're speaking of Tero Subtitler, the download for the most recent
portable version should have the filename ts1010_win64_portable.zip.
Be aware that the program is still in Pre-release status.

It seems to be working fine on W10 for me.
Version 6.2.3 opened right away, much different than v6.0b Build 131121.

You're forgetting that, the message was posted before the first Tero
Subtitler application release.

https://github.com/URUWorks/TeroSubtitler/tags?after=1.0.0.5

The point is your post in May referred to Subtitle Workshop as though it
was only one program. There were two at that time with that same name,
one on Sourceforge and the one on GitHub developed by URUWorks.

They're both the same program.

Yes, I was. Sorry about the lack of clarification.

Do you have a link for it? TIA.

One problem I ran into with the updated, portable version of Subtitle
Workshop, at least on W7, was that it was very difficult for me to get
file associations to work with the program. I attributed this to
registry orphans from the installed, earlier version.
