SOLVED
BTW, on most Chrome-based browsers and on some Mozilla-based browsers,
"Control+Shift+Delete" should bring up a "Clear" button (which is "Clear
Now" in Firefox) - which - in Chrome based browsers - is the same button -
but which in Firefox based browsers - appears to be slightly different.
(a) Tested in Epic, for example, these are visually equivalent:
o chrome://settings/clearBrowserData > Clear browsing data
o Control+Shift+Delete > Clear browsing data
(b) But tested in Firefox, for example, these are visually different:
o about:preferences#privacy > Clear Data > Clear > Clear Now
o Control+Shift+Delete > Clear Now
(c) And, tested in Palemoon, for example,
o about:preferences#privacy ==> does not work
o Control+Shift+Delete ==> does not work
As for the solution to the original question...
This will set _one_ page to open at startup to the "Clear" button:
1. Settings > On startup (o)Open a specific page or set of pages >
2. Set pages > Startup pages > Add a new page > Enter URL...
chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
4. OK
But when you attempt to repeat the process to set the _second_ startup tab
to "new tab", that's where the GUI breaks down - for example, "Use current
pages" fails; but the settings>onstartup GUI can be overcome with simple
manual input of:
(1) chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
(2) about:blank
One minor annoyance in this method is that the URL "about:blank" shows up
in the blank page (unlike in Firefox, where the address bar is truly
blank).
