the size is listed as 375 KB.

Tip - do NOT believe file names and file sizes that are shown on web
pages. Start the download and check both.

The GraphPaper home page was moved from:

http://perso.easynet.fr/~philimar/ to: http://www.marquis-soft.com/

sometime ago. However, the latter is down at the moment ... It was
online a few weeks ago.

The home page for Philippe's professional products is:

http://www.multiqc.com/

A few weeks ago there was a FREE version of GraphPaper Printer
available on this site, however, it has since been removed.

See Google cache, right down at the very bottom of the web page:

http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:cjoui0ztZXcJ:www.multiqc.com/+graph+paper+%2Bfree+%2B%22Philippe+Marquis%22&hl=en&gl=au&ct=clnk&cd=3
http://makeashorterlink.com/?X34D1270E

/-----/
A bonus for laboratorians

Graph Paper Printer is a software application by the same author. It
can print any kind of graph paper and much more. This great success
was so much hacked that development stopped. The latest version is
now freely available. In spite of its age of 5 years, it might help
for teaching in the field of clinical chemistry.
Read (http://www.multiqc.com/gpp.htm) further details
(page down, see Google cache)

Download the free installation package: GraphPaperFree-Setup.exe
(705 KB).
/-----/

The link to the file was:
http://www.multiqc.com/Pt8yu5/GraphPaperFree-Setup.exe

"This great success was so much hacked that development stopped."
I presume this is a reference to the keygens that are available.
What a pity, GPP is/was a GREAT software product.

**** I haven't installed this release yet to know what version it is
or whether or not it contains adware like his earlier free versions.

I can post a zipped copy to alt.binaries.freeware if anybody wants a
copy.

Cheers
Bazza...

my fault, sorry. Times ago I had to zip all my files for provider
reasons, so size went from 375 KB to 365 KB, but I missed to update
the page. I'll correct this soon ;-)

Feel free to link to download directly this way:

Susan,

Your not blind, it's not there anymore.
I swear it was when I created the original post. Google's bots have
finally got around to updating their cached copy.

I googled for "GraphPaperFree-Setup.exe" & only found 1 useless link.

I've now installed GraphPaperFree-Setup.exe and it's v5.4.0.2 and it
doesn't contain any adware or other uninvited software.

Although I could post it, the license states:

"Free version - Redistribution by ANY means is strickly forbidden and
will be severely procecuted - only links to the authors website are allowed."

The authors website is listed as: http://www.multiqc.com/ in the license
agreement.

This would seem to indicate that http://www.marquis-soft.com/ no longer
exists.

Given that this is a free version, I wonder why he removed it? I guess
we'll never know.

Hello Bazza,

Please upload a copy to alt.binaries.freeware .

I believe that it will be Graph Paper Printer version
5.4.0.2, but a recent build sans registration.

Hopefully someone can put this online for others to get
in the future, such as:
http://www.woundedmoon.org/win32_freeware.html
or
http://OldVersion.com

Thanks in advance!

I was prepared to do so but that was before I read the license agreement:

"Free version - Redistribution by ANY means is strickly forbidden and
will be severely procecuted - only links to the authors website are allowed."

Yes, it's v5.4.0.2 & it's adware, etc. free.

Other 5.4.x.x versions were shareware as far as I know.

I have a copy, and I saw nothing that prohibits redistribution just
now. Did I miss it somehow? It says that he requests a postcard for
his son, but nothing about redistribution in the file that I have.

This is my post from the 2005 PL nomination and program checking:

Graph Paper Printer
(Freeware) NOTES: last uncrippled freeware version (v 4.21)

The above links are still good. I could not locate any other file
servers with "gpaper421.zip" on them.

Note: this version is postcardware.

I see nothing prohibiting the archival of the program...

I added two alt links...

I'll check my version (fwg.raum108.de) again later today, but I'm
sure I read all license agreements of files I host and have not
found such restriction.

Maybe check also for .exe, as I only zipped it for provider trouble
reasons, it originally was the .exe setup inside that was distributed
by original author.

I can't speak for any *other* version and/or distribution, however,
the above text is also on the "About" dialog that opens when you
click the About button in the "General" column on the Designing
dialog/window.

In the EULA.rtf file that is installed with GPP, it states:

We sure do, mine is v5.4.0.2 (as far as I'm aware
other 5.4.x.x versions are shareware).

See my 1st post in this thread for where I got it from.
Unfortunately it is no longer available.

maybe that's the reason we only list and distribute
older 4.21 ;-)

That seems to be the real "last freeware version" as it allows
distribution. Just be happy with your later download, we can
not benefit from it.

Hi Thorsten,

FWIW file sizes errors are pretty common (the author forgets to update
the file size when the version changes).

A fair number of authors also show a "generic" file name rather than the
actual name. For example see:
http://www.autohotkey.com/download
AutoHotkey (1728 KB)
http://www.autohotkey.com/download/AutoHotkeyInstall.exe
Start the download and the *actual* DL link/ file name is:
http://www.autohotkey.com/download/AutoHotkey104414_Install.exe

and of course checking the DL ensures that the link is LIVE ;)

and checking the DL link sometimes *identifies* Registerware apps - the
author doesn't always *mention* that little requirement. . .

All in all checking is a "good thing" to do.
