Why does this not surprise me?

A new investigation from The Guardian pulls no punches while detailing
Google's treatment of temporary workers, saying, "Google has been
illegally underpaying thousands of temporary workers in dozens of
countries and delayed correcting the pay rates for more than two years
as it attempted to cover up the problem."

The Guardian says it has seen documents indicating that Google has known
about this problem since 2019, and "rather than immediately correct the
errors, the company dragged its feet for more than two years, the
documents show, citing concern about the increased cost to departments
that rely heavily on temporary workers, potential exposure to legal
claims, and fear of negative press attention."

Google has the potential to be such a wonderful company and yet they
insist on doing evil things like this.

posts made from Google Groups and cross-posted (sent to more than one
newsgroup at a time) messages. I recommend you do likewise.

'Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely." -- Lord John
Dalberg-Acton (1887 Letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton...

What is often omitted is the sentence that follows: "Great men are almost
always bad men."

"Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it." --
William Pitt the Elder, Earl of Chatham, British Prime Minister 1766-1778;
in a speech to the UK House of Lords in 1770

This consistent truism and observed human trait goes back to the days of
Aristotle and Socrates, albeit they were referring to "power" in the sense
of government because agrarian societies had not yet evolved to point where
so many huge corporations exerted nearly absolute control over their
sectors of everyday life, including 'communications' -- which is very much
a critical and necessary intangible 'commodity' that greatly impacts
everybody's everyday lives...

It is not reasonable to believe that a huge company - as well as the
leadership therein - would be dishonorable in one facet of their operations
while upholding an honorable approach with all other facets.

"Big-Tech" and "Social Media" have been allowed to obtain way too much
power over our inalienable rights under some deluded false premise that
"private companies" have superior illusory rights to deny our/their
inalienable, Constitutional, and statutory rights.

Whoever controls Google controls the world!

All hail Google. Resistance is futile.

Hope this helps.

I AM Bucky Breeder, (*(^;

And *NO*, that is *NOT* a Jedi Light Saber I have in my pocket!

But that doesn't necessarily mean I'm happy to see you either.

(I could have explained that the "either/or" proposition is almost always a
'false dichotomy' meant to control the narrative and advance an objective
but it's too much fun watching the clueless remain clueless. Shhh...)

Their intentions are good. The road to perdition is thusly paved.
