Yikes, the file has grown over four times in size.
Is this software still worth the trouble?
Oops, should mention that's the FREE "malware only" version.
Looks like the Plus version is free:
http://www.lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php
However, on older computers IME the program hits the resources pretty hard.
In my case, I use Malwarebytes Antimalware:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
The free version doesn't provide realtime protection, but oh well. Still
better than nothing I suppose.

John Corliss BS206. I block all Google Groups posts (because of
Googlespam) and all x-privat.org posts (because of the forgery flood
posted through that service) with NewsProxy. No ad, cd, commercial,
cripple, demo, nag, share, spy, time-limited, trial or web wares OR
warez for me, please.
An old standard that has been superseded by newer software; it doesn't
perform real well in the mags' reviews, although I think "Consumer
Reports" still lists it.
I gave up on it two years back.
"Trialware" as far as I can see, and even more bloated than the
"malware only" freeware.

With an .exe file of less than 4MB, it's worth a try -- "real time" is
not too important for me.
Even worse, it looks like:
"In order to successfully complete the TrialPay checkout and receive
your product, you must initiate the completion of the third-party offer
("advertiser offer") from within the TrialPay checkout. Any transactions
(offer completions) initiated directly on the third-party website
without originating from within the TrialPay checkout will not be
tracked by our advertising partners and you will not be credited for
your product/service."
I sent them an email about it.

Not only that, but the program allows you to get updates whenever you
want and will scan individual files if you like (context menu item).
They may be the next AVG, at least like it used to be.
HELL NO! It's like Windows XP, it just when down from there! ;)

I had a two year pay contract with AdAware. Expired Nov 09. But...they
cut me off much sooner. Could not get back on. So, I am with MS
Essentials and Win Defender. Hopefully I am half way safe.
