I knew my memory hadn't failed me....

On XP, it examines the bitrate of all mp3's in a folder. Just
right click folder. No idea if it works with Win 7.
Abandonware, so freeware (author gives serial). This was the
last version.

I gaved up on that ten years ago. It purported to identify the codec used
to encode an MP3. Sometimes it did but more often it did not.

Well, the latter ones were better at it. Version 2.2 was from
7 years ago.
