This is a payware with a freeware version that is well nobbled and
pretty useless.

Does anyone know of a freeware program that will do the same as the
above payware
It is not the protection removal features I am interested in as DVD
Decryptor will do that. It is the direct conversion from DVD to a file
that I am looking for.

Thanks, I will look at those programs

I see a free DVD burner in the list -- just searching for something like
that at the moment. I am building a computer and need a good easy to use
burner for non technicial people to use. Cyberlink DVD suite Lite was
provided with the burner but I know nothing about it at all.

I finally settled on "Ashampoo Burning Studio 2010 Advanced 9.24_7590"

I downloaded it some time back when they were having a promotional
giveaway with registration code and no time limit. I forgot that I had
it. It works perfectly on win7 (64bit) and will burn to USB CDROM's too.
It is much better than Nero in my opinion.

Oops I only got a CDROM burner. I thought it did more than that.

To deal with DVD problems, Aunsoft DVD Ripper is a good choice. It has Windows and Mac version and free trial version.
