Bremalie;

I don't have any experience in this but, Paul Pruitt a long-time poster
here ("socrtwo") has a comprehensive site dealing with data recovery of
all types. Here's the section of his site addressing freeware for image
recovery:

http://www.s2services.com/photoandimagefreeware.htm

Please post back to let us know how it goes. It helps the next person
with the same problem.

Use the codec ID utility Media Info to determine if the file in
question is actually a jpeg.

Media Info
OS: Win NT/Win95/98/ME/2K (32), XP/2003/Vista/7 (32/64)

"Mannat Software is a Leading World-Wide Software Selling Company"

And everything has a "Buy Now" sticker.

Did not see any freeware at all, unless you mean the bottom
half of the girl. I seem to have missed that giveaway.
But you posted in the right place. I'm sure people will
suggest freeware alternatives.

Company offering a free trial version, in trial version you can see the preview of recover images. In that case you are completely satisfied with the software capability before purchasing the software. No one is offering free version, all are free trial version.

Yes, but only to successfully open the file. At least one row of the image
pixels will still be corrupted.
