If you can remove individual files from a rewritable CD then it sounds
like you may be using UDF packet formatting on the CD. (Drag and drop
your files on and off.)
Several people claim that packet writing & rewriting can soon become
unreliable on a CD-RW and that it is safer to use a write-once CD for
backing up.
