Any suggestions for Win software that can check the PC CMOS battery
voltage/condition?

TIA

Uh... since when did motherboards have CMOS battery voltage sensor?

I've had the battery go dead in only a couple computers so far. When
they do, I just replace them. I have a computer which is 16 years old
and its CMOS battery is still working.

If the clock resets or if your BIOS settings change when you
unplug the PC time to buy a new one. I keep a strip of them in a
drawer. They generally last 5-8 years.
I suppose you could measure their voltage with a multimeter.
But i's really not worth the bother.
Laptop models OTOH are a PITA.

You might not need more software: check your BIOS (or UEFI) settings.
My pc shows the current voltage in the settings menus along with other
stats, and it can also be set to show those details even time the pc
boots.

Open Hardware Monitor has a VBat monitor, mine shows 3.144V right now,
so I'm not sure if that's actually the CMOS battery or not (it's a
desktop).

and looks fairly portable too.

I just ran it. WOW!!!!

This is exactly what I've been needing. Pretty sure it's what HH is
looking for too.

Many thanks for the excellent recommendation!!!

This looks interesting. What do you mean by "fairly" portable? It
doesn't require an install does it? Can it be run off a usb stick?

Thanks.

Yep, worked here on Windows 7 x64. Sweet.

I use it primarily for monitoring CPU temps (overclocked i5-7600k).

It doesn't require install, but it does require Administrator
priveleges. I haven't tried it from a USB stick but I can't imagine why
it wouldn't work.

On Sat, 24 Jun 2017, lifewoutmilk <lifewo...@distraction.x10host.com>:
Thanks for the suggestion. I've run it on my 6 year old Lenovo desktop and
on a new Intel NUC, but no Vbat reading on either one. Both PCs appear to
lack CMOS battery voltage sensors. Otherwise, OpenHardwareMonitor seems to
be a useful tool for monitoring CPU load and fan speeds (the latter on the
NUC only).

I've opened the Lenovo and measured the CMOS battery voltage with a
multimeter. It was showing 3.06V and the voltage printed on the lithium
cell battery was 3V, so it should be OK still.

That was only at a first glance. Now that I've used it, I can see that
it's totally portable, stores its settings in a local file.
