"If you’ve yet to play around with your own virtual machine, you’re
missing out. When I first found out that this type of technology was
possible, literally emulating another operating system and essentially
another “computer” within your own, I was pretty stunned and amazed. This
opened a lot of possibilities for me and offered a lot of new things for
me to explore and get familiar with. It was a real joy to go back and
revisit my favorite OS of all time, Windows 98.

Virtual machines are more useful than just for fun and games, and they’ve
helped me a huge deal in work-related areas of my life. Using a virtual
machine offers a great sandbox if you’re ever dealing with sketchy
software that may be riddled with things that you’re way too nervous to
allow on your main disk. While some trojans and malware are sophisticated
enough to pass through virtual disks, it’s still a common practice.

In a very well-written post from Justin just last year, it was thoroughly
explained how you can get a VirtualBox up and running in practically a
matter of minutes (depending on your download speed). In this post, I’d
like to show you three great websites where you can find a heap of free
virtual disk images...."

Yeah, I don't get the OS images with default config at all. How
difficult is it to install Linux, unless you are a Bear. It always takes
ages to find the bloody password, and they have always done something
weird which takes ages to figure out. I can lose a password without any
help, and weird screwy configs is my speciality. I guess very
complicated application servers and stuff might be an exception maybe
and then again not.

Attention new posters. Beware: ACF is under attack by a small number of
trolls who post false and misleading replies to questions here, and run
campaigns of lies against some of the long term regulars in order to get
them killfiled.

These are my recommendations to filter their malicious trollspam

By filtering out messages containing q34w...@yahoo.com
<< q34wsk20-at-yahoo.com>> AND <<no...@nowhere.com>> AND <<Dud...@Dreamcatcher.com>>
in the "From:" header and messages containing "ccountrynet" in the path statement
you will knock out more than half or even three quarters of the trollspamming in
this group.

I also recommend filtering all crossposts, anonymous remailers, and any
posts with these providers in the path:

eternal-september.org
dotsrc.org
ccountrynet < especially this one
individual.net
easynews.com

Half the fun of playing with a new OS is learning the installation
routine, so I have also wondered why someone would want to download
someone else's intalled OS.

I'm getting old. I used to enjoy doing installs and beating them into
submission. Now I want them to be uneventful, and the result immediately
usable. If that's not the case, I move on to something else. Boring is good.

You're deskilling yourself bro. The ancient arts of throwing a spanner
in the works a.k.a SABOTAGE are being lost. How is a shyster going to
feed his progeny if things become uneventful. We must resist the
inexorable rise of capitalism and the swing of power away from the
individual. Don't be so lazy. Get yerself a monkey wrench.

Pray that the hard disk in your PC would never fail!
Pray that you would never wanna upgrade to a new OS!

Two sentences of the same length... How amusing! :)

It happens that telsar formulated :
LOL. I got a weird link (with the word "virtuaual" instead of "virtual"
displayed in my MesNews client. The URL as it appears in the raw data
seems to be spelled correctly though. Clicking on the link got me a 404
citing the URL with the misspelled word in it.

Must be a MesNews glitch - anyone else seeing this?
