Have 2 questions I hope someone could answer. The 1st is how to unsync in Foxmail and the second, as of 4-1-2020 - I start with unable to send email although I could receive them. I get a connect error: ;ssl not supported, check your server's config. error code 1. Any idea how to remedy this or set up account to send also?

FYI: have removed Firefox and reinstalled with latest verion

Thanks in advance for any & all help.

From the Wiki:

//The Dutch edition of PC Magazine reported that version 6.0 of
Foxmail occasionally sends email usage data to
datacollect.foxmail.com.cn, but otherwise generally described it as an
"excellent email client", recommending version 5.0.8 (the last one
before the acquisition), which isn't affected by this issue.//

The "occasionally" is worrying, because it won't happen every
time you use it, so it makes monitoring hard. And it's now on version
7.2.15, who knows what other addresses it phones home to....

Have you tried Sylpheed?

A Japanese program. Some of their stuff is mighty well written:

https://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/en/

AFAICT though, it doesn't do usenet.

I've stated before, Usenet and Email should be kept separate.
I suppose people with Thunderbird could use different profiles.
I still have the Usenet message where the guy on
soc.culture.brazil tells his "fluffy buffy" wife he'll be home
shortly. Thinking he was sending an email.
Odd, he disappeared after that....

Thanks for that info, Yrrah. Good to know if I ever need to replace TB.

I see what you mean. I've made such a mistake in the past, but it wasn't
a critical error on my part because the email was boring. Hasn't
happened since, but I can see that I could again.

If I was going to get a separate news reader, I'd probably go with
Xananews. The program can still be had here:

https://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/News-Newsgroups-Blog-Tools/XanaNews.shtml

The home page is dead now though.

Thanks for the info. Will give Sylpheed a try. It's a shame as Foxmail was a good program.

You MIGHT find Sylpheed too "basic". I sometimes use it. For
emails, it just works.
As someone here pointed out, Claws Mail has tons of extensions
for added "features", but OTOH it does tend to run slow on older
hardware.
Your choice.

So what is your primary client now Yrrah?

My hardware was reasonable. I found searching through and
applying filters to > 1GB messages (under Linux) to be painfully slow.
(compared to Forte Agent/Windows).
Pan OTOH was lightening fast. But a PITA to configure.
PS I don't do binaries... messages were plain text.
