Is Ungoogled Chromium and SRWare Iron the same thing?

I had SRWare Iron for a long time on Windows 10.
I installed Ungoogled Chromium today on Windows 10.

When I open either one, they say they're SRWare Iron.
Huh? What gives?

Do you get the same?
Are they somehow getting confused with each other in Windows?

I got SRWare Iron long ago from here
https://www.srware.net/iron/

I got Ungoogled Chromium today from here

(1) Get ungoogled Chromium by starting here
https://ungoogled-software.github.io/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/

(2) Find the "Windows 64-bit" binaries
https://ungoogled-software.github.io/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/releases/windows/64bit/

(3) Choose the latest Windows 64-bit binary
https://ungoogled-software.github.io/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/releases/windows/64bit/89.0.4389.114-1

(4) Pick either the exe or the zip
https://github.com/tangalbert919/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/releases/download/89.0.4389.114-1/ungoogled-chromium_89.0.4389.114-1.1_installer-x64.exe

This isn't about "browser wars" in the least.
It's about installing freeware on Windows 10.

I wonder if this is a case where "something" is common between them such
that Windows 10 can't differentiate between them in practice.

I got them from here today.
https://ungoogled-software.github.io/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/
https://www.srware.net/iron/

The file sizes are hugely different when downloaded today
https://github.com/tangalbert919/ungoogled-chromium-binaries/releases/download/89.0.4389.114-1/ungoogled-chromium_89.0.4389.114-1.1_installer-x64.exe
https://www.srware.net/downloads/srware_iron64.exe

But when I installed one into one directory, it took over the other!
After deleting both I did it in the reverse order.
Again, when I installed one into a different folder it took over the other.

Are they the same thing exactly? One and the same?
(They don't say anywhere that they're exactly the same thing.)

Name: srware_iron64.exe
Size: 79455208 bytes (75 MiB)

Nowhere does it say they're the same and yet I installed one and it took
over the other and vice versa after an uninstall of both, reboot & 2nd try.

Is this a Windows anomaly that can't handle two unchromes at once?

Definitely not.

Ungoogled Chromium is Chromium with Google craps removed.

SRWare Iron is built on top of the official Chromium (which is with Google
craps). i.e. Chromium with SRWare craps. Hiding, relabelling, disabling,
replacing, or removing the Google craps would be SRWare's job.

That's what I thought too!
It must be a Windows 10 problem that you can't have both at the same time.

Notice there are three executables which are involved.
Iron's "chrome.exe" says it's SRWare Iron version 89.0.4550.0
Iron's "iron.exe" says the same thing as did the chrome.exe above
Unchrome's "chrome.exe" seems to pull up the Iron.exe window

To test this out better I gave each browser a different startup page!
https://fossbytes.com/complete-list-of-secret-chrome-urls-uses/

Here's what I tried to set each "chrome://settings/onStartup" to:
Iron's chrome.exe onstartup page = chrome://predictors/
Iron's iron.exe onstartup page = chrome://chrome-urls/
Unchrome's chrome.exe onstartup page = chrome://downloads/

But what happened is that any change to one made a change to all.
What the heck is going on with Windows and ungoogled chromes?

It's not Windows or Chromium problem. That's Iron's problem. Iron doesn't
change Chromium's user profile folder name from "Chromium" to e.g. "Iron" or
"SRWare Iron". Iron's software changes on Chromium don't include that. So,
both Chromium and Iron will try to use the same profile folder - by default.

IOTW, it's a profile folder usage conflict. Chromium's profile folder
contents are not shareable by multiple browser instances such as your case
because some files are locked when they're used. First come, first served.
Access to locked files from additional browser instances will be denied.

If you want to separate the profile folder, you'll have to specify via
command line switch, a different profile folder path for Iron or Chromium.

If you want, U can try the *portable* version of "Ungoogled Chromium",
have a look here:
https://portapps.io/app/ungoogled-chromium-portable/
the portable version keeps all user data in the program folder. So U
can test it in parallel with Iron

That must be it!
Thanks.

I'll have to learn how to set profiles upon startup for each chrome variant.

First result in a search seems to have what I need.
"By default, Chrome starts with the last user who used the browser. This
can be inconvenient at times, so, in this tutorial we'll show you how to
start Chrome at the user selection window, from where you can pick a user or
browse as guest. On top of that, we'll cover how to make Chrome always start
with a specific user profile and pin a shortcut on taskbar (in Win 8/8.1 or
10), for that user only."
