Wow... OK.
I'm glad you found your way outta that proprietary mess. Couple of
things came to mind about this situation:
First, I'm with H-Man: I stay away from proprietary file types. Second,
and I shoulda remembered this before: Some "proprietary" filename
extensions are simply renamed common file types.
IOW, take a look at one of the files in question. Although it might
have a bizarre, unusual and maddeningly unique filename extension, it
just might be a zip file leading to a jpg or w/e.
