Fool Automatic Digital Camera???

Hi all,
I know this question seems really strange but anyway I'll give it a
try.
I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC Fx3, it's a typical "point and shot"
compact camera without manual settings. What I'd really like to know
is if anyone knows a way to "tweak" it so I can make pictures with
different settings, what I'd like to achieve is taking pictures with a
chosen Depth of Field. With the word "tweak" I'm not only talking
about changing the firmware, but also I wonder if doesn't exist a
technic to first point somewhere then let the autofocus do what he has
to do and then take the picture of the subject I like, or anything
else that can fool the autofocus .... did I explain??

Don't know about your camera but AFAIK most cameras you push the button part
way down until if focuses then hold until actually taking the picture by
pushing all the way down. Should also hold exposure. Focus and Depth of
Field are not the same thing. Only the aperture changes the Depth of Field.
Changing the aperture will require a change in shutter speed to maintain
correct exposure.

A camera without manual override should probably only be use by someone who
shouldn't be taking pictures.:)
