USR 1171 internal -- upgrades?

I've just picked up an internal USR modem - model 117100.

Is it possible to upgrade this to v90?
Apparently there was a USR utility that would upgrade the firmware of
some models, though no longer on their site.
I found the site: smf.ai.ru "Sportster Modem Flasher" which doesn't
list this exact model, though it has 11702.
I found one mention of this utility saying it would brick your modem.
Any other opinions or advice?
