So, just why is it that all of those here that have paid for the product
should subsidise you by getting you a free illegal copy of it exactly?

There have been several cracks for Jaws 7.0 on the net. Do your own
search, but make sure you have maximum anti-virus protection as these
sites are evil.
And none of the ones I tried worked.
And Jaws 8 is the usual bug-ridden crap you normally get with any new
version of Jaws, so you'd be better off trying for an older version
anyway.

Much as I despise the current silly prices for access software, cracking the
program is not going to do any of us any good at all. Eventually, there
would be no developers in the game at all.

There is a torrent for Jaws 8, but who knows if its cracked or a fake.

My comments on this sort of thing for screenreaders is on my last message.

In my view we all should get a copy of a good screenreader for free anyway,
but then pigs might fly.

Well. I, myself, cannot buy Jaws. The price is high all right, but I live in
Iran and geting a credit card is not possible. However, as soon as I saw the
message title, I was waiting for a lot of "disapproving" words and
sentences, and I saw only one. That was when I sighed in relief.
Companies put a lot of time and efort on making screen reader and come on,
they have to pay their employees. But I cannot aford this price, neither can
much others, and there doesn't seem to be someone to support these companies
so that they wouldn't need to ask the blind to pay them, and then the blind
comunity can get their screen readers for free. I think if such a thing ever
exists, we all will have free screen readers and there wouldn't be a search
for cracks. Although I myself am a professional crack searcher (lol) but
it's my only way.

Yes, I do understand, and you are right, in a sharing caring world the
products would be subsidised, and to some extent, at least in the UK they
can be, but only if you have a job. The sad fact is that in order to get
said job, you need to know stuff, and if you cannot afford the software, you
will never learn it, so its left to charities to pick up the pieces.

I think its a scandal considering the small relative costs of this.

I'd have thought without going to much into the politics, that if a
western company could offer people in less liked countries the opportunity
to get on the first rung of the IT ladder, it could only be good for joint
relations between said countries, but there are too many vested interests
dressed up as politics and religion for that to happen, sadly.

It's not only in UK, or in "western countries" but all around the world.
There are people claiming to understand the blind completely and put titles
like, "Providing All Visually Impaired Need! The Best And First Site Of The
World!" and such, no one has ever thought of our paying problems. Money.
Job. Etc. They say Ammerican dollars should be converted to braille, but not
caring that not all the blinds are living in United States. That's our
problem. We look around and think the world is all around us. Whenever I say
such things, I hear: "Wo. Those words are too big to be heard from the mouth
of someone who is 17.". Big or small, it's true, and we should all say
what's true, and, well, that's it.

Hi to all,
did you think about changing to Linux?
Did you hear about Ubuntu and the screen reader Orca?
I use it parallel to Windows and I found it more and more useful and
equivalent to Windows and Jaws.
Of course: There are still a few lacks in accessibility, so one cannot give
up Windows completely.
But if the development continues we will get a real alternative, and, all
for free.
To learn more about Orca visit:
http://live.gnome.org/Orca
For Ubuntu see:
http://www.ubuntu.com
It's worth trying.

Hermann

Yes! Now that's good news. But well. Freedom Scientific is really working
for a while and they have the right to sell their products and they have
really gone very far, so it takes a while for others to get to where they
are, and get as popular as JFW is. But still, cracks will do the job. lol.

I put a "please" from my side because I badly need it and still, am waiting,

I still don't see why you have to have Jaws 8. From my experience
even the latest update to it doesn't make it work as well as Jaws 7.1.
