Clamav portable does not update

clamav portable does not update - the update window opens but nothing
happens, there's no network activity when it tries to update.

I googled and tried some things but no luck. Does anyone know a fix?

I tried changing mirrors, using older versions, manually
editing conf files. etc
It does not update.
There is no update tab in the settings dialog.
So I suppose the builder just overlooked the possibility of
needing a database :)

Try loading a Kaspersky iso onto your pendrive. Worked here.
(you cannot use the PC during the scan though ...)
