"Although traditional virus development may have dropped, it's by no means
on the way out. Mi2g has identified Europe as the hotbed of malicious code
writing, leading the world in the development of 57 per cent of viruses.
Around 21 per cent of these originate from eastern Europe including Russia.
North America accounted for 17 per cent, followed by the Far East at 13 per
cent.
The analyst identified the most prolific serial virus writers as Zombie,
author of the Executable Trash Virus Generator; Benny from 29A virus group
and author of the .Net Donut virus; Black Baron, author of Smeg; David
Smith, author of Melissa; and Chen Ing-Hau, author of CIH."

Total bollox,

Z0mbie doesn't turn out crap code, every thing he's done is well written
tight,quality code.
Benny doesn't spread anything.
Dave Smith admitted to writing melissa..so what thats old news.
Crissy Pile hasn't written anything since 1995

serial virus writers...what next....typical media bullshit to make all virus
writers look like malicious monsters out to destroy everybodies
computers. When was the last time anybody saw one of Benny's creations in the
wild?As usual nothing sells the news like misery or big hedlines....

I have to agree about media hype and general delusions of fantasy. One
newspaper described Chris Pile as a "shadowy kingpin of underground crime"
or words to that effect.
All tripe of course - but then media people tend to suffer from low IQs and
dubious sexuality. (Especially if they work for the BBC).

Well I'm glad Europe has something positive going for it (cutting edge virus
development), because when you consider the Euro and political integration,
well,..........words fail me.

Yep. Regretably hype and bullshit moves product and journalists are as
guilty (or worse) than used car salesmen. "Don't let reasoned research and
the facts get in the way of a good headline."
