I don't know how many paintings will actually be in the exhibit, but the
Everhart paintings are definitely worth seeing in person.
I'm including an article from the Zanewsville Times-Reporter about the
exhibit below.

Snoopy, Popeye join Art Center
By TR Staff Reports
ZANESVILLE -- The Zanesville Art Center is relying on two cartoon icons
to attract adults and children alike during the holiday season.
The center is debuting two exhibits at its Holiday Family Open House on
Sunday. The first exhibit is of Popeye memorabilia in celebration of his
75th birthday. The second is a unique display of Snoopy cartoon drawings
by Tom Everhart, the only artist authorized by Peanuts creator Charles
Schultz to depict the characters from the popular comic strip.
Debbie Lowe, assistant director, said these two exhibits will appeal to
all age groups. While children are home during the holiday break, Lowe
hopes they will give the art center a chance and come to view the
exhibits.
When she first saw pictures of the Snoopy paintings, she said it was
nothing like seeing them in person at the center.
"It was unbelievable," she said.
Everhart was a long-time friend of the late Schultz. His works show
Snoopy by himself and with other characters such as Charlie Brown and
Linus.
The Popeye collection comes from Zanesville resident Robert Titko, who
came by his collection mostly from gifts.
When he was younger, he liked the Popeye cartoons. When the live action
movie version came out in 1980, he saw it and liked it. His sister
bought him a piece of Popeye memorabilia, and from there it snowballed.
"There are very few pieces that I have bought myself," said Titko, who
is also a member of the International Popeye Fan Club.
About 60 percent of his collection is on display at the art center. The
biggest piece is the Popeye pinball machine, which will be operating and
available for anyone to play while it's on display. During the open
house, Popeye cartoons also will be shown.
Titko said Popeye actually debuted about two years earlier than what is
commonly known. According to him, Popeye actually debuted as Betty
Boop's boyfriend, but the character didn't work out. He was brought back
two years later as Olive Oyl's boyfriend -- and the rest is history.
In honor of Popeye's birthday, the art center will have a birthday cake
at the open house.
In addition to the open house, a members-only show made up of art work
from art center members will have its last day Sunday. The pieces will
be available for purchase, and the art center's museum store is open for
holiday shopping as well.
The Zanesville High School String Musicians will provide entertainment
for the evening. Children will be able to visit with Santa and make
holiday crafts, as well.
