Hi folks,

I'll keep this short as I can. If anyone is interested in taking over
Shifting Sands and has a server that can host the site, please let me know.
(darq...@tp.net)

Midnight just doesn't seem to have the time to do it and I understand. The
future of Doghouse is up in the air, so it seems best to make a general
offer if anyone wants to take the whole thing over and put it on their own
site.

Email for more details if you're at all interested. No, you don't have to
keep the name unless you want to. No, you don't have to run it the way I
did (submissions, etc.) I'm doing this because there is some really
excellent fanfiction on the site and I feel bad that I had to abandon it.

If no one is interested in taking the archive as a whole, I'll put up a
notice suggesting that people start downloading what they want for their
own archives and contacting the authors for permission.

To all of you out there (and you know who you are) who wrote and said, "If
I had your archive, I'd do a better job than *you* did/do!" here is your
chance. :-)

I'm sorry I wasn't able to keep the archive up. I had a lot of fun doing
it at the beginning, but it got to the point where it was too much for one
person and because of the location of the site, I couldn't get helpers
because my brother in law was very reluctant to offer access.

Please don't write and beg me to reconsider and to start taking it over
again. It was hard enough the first time to leave it, I can't go through
that again.

Thanks to everyone who contributed. I'm sorry I had to do this.
Warmest Wishes

Darqstar,

before I start to cry at the loss of yet another great Archive, Let
me just thank you for The Shifting Sands' contribution to the world Of
fan Fiction.

Does this mean your are also going to retire from Fan Fic??

Well I just wanted to say thanks, and wish you all the best!!!

Say it ain't so! Oh, man, i hoe someone grabs this. I've only been in
fanfic since November and Shiftin-Sands was my first experience. It's
THE fanfic archive and to see it go down, well, it just ain't right!

Don't get too sad... it looks like the archive will live on. I don't want
to post the details until I'm a hundred percent sure, but I'm 99% sure that
the perfect person has been found to take it over.

In the long run, that's a better solution anyway, cause the archive will
grow rather than just stagnate on the Doghouse server.

When I know more, I'll inform everyone, either here or on the site itself.

Warmest Wishes
Darqstar
