Ok, I'm pretty sure this was a Dilbert strip...

It would be a Sunday full colour strip with Dilbert talking to Dogbert
about being able to compare data from year to year but Dogbert saying
something about changing the criteria to exactly prevent this in order
to hide past performance and prevent benchmarking.

Anyone know if 1) this was indeed a Dilbert strip, and 2) a link to it
if it was?

Thanks in advance, JB

It sounds like a topic that would be in a Dilbert strip, but I
searched my transcripts pretty throughly and didn't find a strip like
you describe. I examined every Sunday (color) strip that contained
any of the following words/phrases: compare, last year, past year,
criteria, prevent, performance, and benchmark. Nothing that even
comes close to what you describe.

Can you remember any verbatim dialog from the strip? Or anything
unique about the setting or any props that were setting around?

Thanks for trying. I suspect the "strip" in question was probably a
doctored one from a course I took on benchmarking drawn up by the
consultant to illustrate the need to keep measurement variables
constant for year over year comparison. Oh well.

Late and not much info, but I think I recall a strip along those lines.

The idea was that reorganizing (centralizing/decentralizing/whatever)
would make year-to-year comparisons impossible, reducing the basis for
management accountability.

Don't recall any keywords, much less verbatim text, unfortunately.
Sorry. -Eric
