Hmmm... his face looks too small or the helmet looks too big. Visually
speaking, I think he could be a tad miscast. I suppose if his acting
is good it won't matter too much about his face and helmet. The eagle
on his right shoulder has gone.

Let's face it, he doesn't really look like Dredd. I bet you could ask
a typical male 2000AD reader to put on that uniform and helmet and
they wouldn't look that different. He hasn't got the jawline, his face
doesn't shout out 'Dredd'.
Sorry, but from a visual perspective I think he's miscast. There's no
point pretending he looks ideal or great when he doesn't. He doesn't
look awful as JD but he's hardly giving of a "oh wow, this is Judge
Dredd come to life!" vibe. Hardly. A bit uninspired to be honest.
There's zero wow factor, that's the problem. Same as the screenplay -
no wow factor.
scojo
Apparently the eagle is still there but a bit lower down and not
sticking out as much. I stand corrected. :)

The shoulder pads are still way too small. The right eagle pad eagle
looks puny compared to the 2000AD version. Okay, some might argue
"it's not realistic to have an actor wearing massive shoulder pads,
it's not practical for the action scenes" - perhaps, but did they have
to go the other extreme and give him hardly any at all? The uniform is
meant to be imposing, but those shoulder pads don't look imposing at
all. Dumb decision. Makes no sense to emasculate the character.
The people making this film are fundamentally clueless. Sorry, they
may be talented in their own right, but collectively they're clueless.
No way should Dredd have shoulder pads that small. It looks
ridiculous, and anyway, who cares about realism? This is Judge Dredd -
a sci-fi film, who cares if his shoulder pads are a bit big, that's
how he's meant to look. The argument it has to look realistic is
absurd. More proof of how clueless the Dredd film makers are.

They are as clueless as my typing!!!!
This place should have an edit function. Bleh.

Notice how the shoulders look square. Compare that to Urban's
shoulders:

His slope too much making him seem less muscular. Had they gone with
bigger shoulder pads it would have boosted the top part of Urban's
body. This is basic common sense. It's a big mistake to dismiss
Dredd's imposing stature and go with small pads.

See, I may be a loon but I think logically. I'm a logical loon! LOL
