"History within 2000AD

The Volgans are an integral part of the 2000 AD universe in which a
number of stories involving them take place. Their main appearances
take place between the present and ends before the Great Atomic War
whose aftermath would see the rise of the Mega-Cities and the
foundation of the Judge Dredd universe. The two parts are largely seen
through the eyes of a couple of characters: Bill Savage and
Hammerstein."

So there we are. I accept that's an unofficial version of history but
that's why I suggested The Volgans and America at war. It's consistent
with the 'unofficial' facts and what is posted on Wikipedia.

Volgans are even nastier than the Sovs. :)

A-ha! The Sovs start the Atomic Wars? Is that it? Hmm....

Eh no, the Volgans are not part of Dredd history.

so lets see, a few people on the internet say that Volgans are in
Dredd's world, the guy who writes Dredd, created Dredd and has written
the majority of Dredd stories say they aren't, which one do I believe?

MMMmmmm, Thats gonna take a while to work out?

That article would be by the same people who created the "2000ad
universe" article, with it's highly dubious claim that all 2000ad
stories exist within the same fictional universe. It shouldn;t be taken
as anything other than fanwankery.

As a personal interpretation, it's an entirely valid one - Nemesis
features Satanus and the Judges, and the ABC Warriors, which features
Hammerstein who was in Ro-Busters which mentions the building of
Mega-City One. Dredd has crossed over with characters from Strontium Dog
and even Rogue Trooper. Sam Slade operates outs of a future Brit-Cit.

There's nothing wrong with this sort of fanwankery, as long as one
sticks to what's actually written in the comics (and not make up stuff
to force it to fit) and recognises that it is just fanwankery.
