If anyone wishes to see the extent that Scott's mental health has
deteriorated, I suggest that you head over to the IMDB message board
for the new Dredd film.

He is accusing another boarder of being Andy Diggle.

Scott, it really is time you got some professional help.

The person has claimed he is John Wagner. Yes, John Wagner. For what
it's worth, I was 90 percent sure the IMDB poster called Sauchieboy
was John Wagner. I tried to trick him into posting and revealing who
he was and it worked. I started a thread about Origins where I
mentioned the Cal Files/Origins contradiction. Anyway, to cut to the
chase, Wagner replied:

Alright, Scott; I admit it. I should have known you were wise to me-
after all; we go back a long way, you and me, Son. Was it my use of
the Scottish vernacular that gave me away? At any rate, you've
cleverly seized upon the one glaring anomaly in thirty-odd years of
Dredd continuity- the Polders/Tell anachronism- and I have to admit
that this was an embarrassing error of judgement on my part. I'm not a
young man anymore, Scott; the strain on me has been heavy and I wish,
perhaps, that my resolve had been a little greater when I made the
decision to step away from my writing commitments in the Nineties.

That's no excuse for short-changing loyal readers like yourself
though, Scott, and damaging my reputation for absolute probity. I did
something I should not have done and in desperation I thought it was
better to conceal the truth concerning my moment of human frailty. I
tried to deny it, but I didn't believe in myself anymore- I kept
asking myself, 'have I done the right thing?'. The readers believe in
me, but therein lay the key- one step over the line and the whole
edifice crumbles. I had deadlines to meet and who knows how much
longer is left to me ...?

Acknowledging that mistake is what has made me break cover, Scott.
This is a perilous step to take, but I feel I must try to persuade you
to overlook our past differences and get behind the new Dredd (2012)
film. We've all got a lot invested (literally and metaphorically) in
this film being a success, but you've done a hell of a job convincing
everyone on the internet that it's a fundamentally flawed enterprise.
You've distinguished yourself despite your young age, in a way a
lesser man could never have achieved.

It's too late now to address the problems I referred to in Dundee;
many of which emanate from Garland's flawed script, as you've
correctly identified in previous posts. What's done is done, Scott:
what good purpose is served by exposing our mistakes now? What message
would that send to our enemies? Aren't we in danger of shooting
ourselves in the foot? You never heard this from me, you understand-
I'll delete this post forthwith- but I need you beside me on this one,
Scott: I call on you to pledge your allegiance to the new film. I'm
asking you, begging you; it's not too late ... we can fix this.

To this end, I have initiated discussions with Rebellion and the movie
people to involve you in future projects and bring this disastrous
parting of the ways to a fair and just conclusion. To see the truth of
my words and claim what is yours by right, simply contact me through
my Facebook page, Son.

-----------

Now I know the likes of Eldospinks will say "it's not Wagner, it's
someone tricking you!" but I'm not so sure. I think it is John Wagner.
I did consider Andy Diggle (because this Sauchieboy has extensive
knowledge of Dredd, Wagner's old quotes etc) but the comment

"Alright, Scott; I admit it. I should have known you were wise to me-
after all; we go back a long way, you and me, Son. Was it my use of
the Scottish vernacular that gave me away? At any rate, you've
cleverly seized upon the one glaring anomaly in thirty-odd years of

perhaps, that my resolve had been a little greater when I made the
decision to step away from my writing commitments in the Nineties. "

would suggest it is John Wagner. He's been posting for months and
there are loads of clues it is John Wagner. Here is another huge clue
Sauchieboy is John Wagner:

Sauchieboy posted this:

"The one thing you can say for the version of Dredd's screen
adventures BURLEARTH was kind enough to share with us, is that it
implies a sense of scale (from the opening shot, to the warring gangs
contesting control of the streets of Megacity One) that was noticeably
absent from the version that slunk apologetically onto screens in
1995. It's in the extremes, the contrasts and the exaggerations of
life in Megacity One that the unique value of the best Dredd strips
can be found. It would have been good to see that Statue of Judgement
standing there, towering over Liberty. Kind of a symbol."

--------------

The last line is a Judge Dredd quote from America!(I think it was from
the story America). Sauchieboy stuck an actual bit of Dredd dialogue -
with a slight alteration - into one of his posts. That is the sort of
thing John Wagner would do, I reckon.

If you read a lot of his posts it sounds like it's Wagner pretending
to be a regular IMDB user. His posts do go on and on - he does waffle
on and is a tad pretentious but every now and then he gives away his
true identity. I am 95 percent sure it is John Wagner. If not him it's
Andy Diggle. But I'm going with John Wagner. When someone writes:

""Alright, Scott; I admit it. I should have known you were wise to me-
after all; we go back a long way, you and me, Son. Was it my use of
the Scottish vernacular that gave me away? At any rate, you've
cleverly seized upon the one glaring anomaly in thirty-odd years of
Dredd continuity- the Polders/Tell anachronism- and I have to admit
that this was an embarrassing error of judgement on my part."

I am going to take it at face value. I may be naive or foolish to
think that's genuine but I think it is.

By the way, if I forced John Wagner to reveal himself, I'd say that
was quite clever and hardly the sign of someone with mental health
problems! Okay, perhaps I'm a smart nutter! :P

Speaking of clues...

The poster calls himself Sauchieboy.

Sauchie is

"a village in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It lies north of the
River Forth and south of the Ochil Hills, within the council area of
Clackmannanshire."

John Wagner was born in America and moved to Scotland as a boy. He has
a Scottish accent. It's not unreasonable to think he might use some
Scottish connection when coming with an IMDB user name.

Seeing as the guy has posted a new thread on IMDB where he admits he
was John Wagner:

"I Was John Wagner For 72 Hours"

(his exacts words)

he's on very shaky ground.

This guy is John Wagner or some guy with mental problems impersonating
him for 72 hours. Why would any fan of John Wagner want to impersonate
him? Makes no sense. Has any 2000AD board user done that? I doubt it.
It's funny to think Sauchieboy has to spend eight posts in a row to
dismiss me as a loon, attention-seeking, spiteful etc when he's the
guy that has to impersonate John Wagner to try to defend the argument.
So if it is John Wagner he's made himself a bit foolish by pretending
he's not John Wagner and if it's not John Wagner then this Sauchieboy
has his own 'mental problems' and has to impersonate him.

Sauchieboy quote:

"Now, despite the fact that I don't write as many weekly Dredd stories
as I used to, I haven't got time to trawl through all Scott's previous
posts to find the first time he accused me of being John Wagner.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1343727/board/thread/192070887?d=192070922&p=1#192070922

"Now, despite the fact that I don't write as many weekly Dredd stories
as I used to,"

Repeat:

"Now, despite the fact that I don't write as many weekly Dredd stories
as I used to"

Has he just admitted he is John Wagner?

If not Wagner it's Alan Grant or Gordon Rennie.

Or just some loon claiming he's a Dredd writer.

But if we assume most of what he writes on IMDB is genuine then he's
admitted he's a Dredd writer:

"Now, despite the fact that I don't write as many weekly Dredd stories
as I used to,"

If this is 100 percent genuine then I was right. It is someone with
links to 2000AD. So I was right after all. It's just a question of
which writer it is - Grant, Wagner or Rennie. All Scottish. It's one
of them but would Rennie dare to pretend to be John Wagner? I doubt
it. This Sauchieboy said he made an error of judgement writing
Origins, would Rennie be so cheeky to admit that. I doubt it.

MYSTERY SOLVED.

It's Simon Spurrier.

I did a Google search and I found some of Si's language in a 2000AD
strip:

"FUDD."

It's from Prog 1482 - from his strip Lobster Random or Harry Kipling.
Both strips were in that prog.

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.comics.2000ad/browse_thread/thread/534b3da8f5d13ba7/6b7d51197af490d6?hl=en&q=simon+spurrier

And then I checked a very recent post of his:

"and his dangerously obsessive-compulsive internet fudd-knocking "

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1343727/board/thread/192070887?d=192070935
&p=1#192070935

I did a Google search on 'fudd-knocking' and there's no such
recognized phrase so that proves it - Sauchieboy is Simon Spurrier.
The term "Fudd" in Si's strip and in a Sauchieboy post is not a
coincidence. It's the same person. This also ties in with his comment

"Now, despite the fact that I don't write as many weekly Dredd stories
as I used to,"

...which is a slight exaggeration of his ego as he's hardly written
any Dredd strips in the first place but yes, he doesn't write much
Dredd these days neither.

His posts quoting so many Wagner comments indicated it was Wagner. My
mistake. Some of the language did strike me a bit strange but the
quotes indicated it was Wagner so I went with him. Si did a good
impression. He knows his Dredd history.
