Q: What is Drew's e-mail address?
Q: According to James Canning of ABC Television, the show does not have an
e-mail address "at this time." According to one of Drew's longtime friends,
he does have an e-mail address, but it is private. I do not know what it
is, and would not give it out against his wishes if I did. The same friend
said that Drew does not keep up with his e-mail very well these days
anyway.
However, here is the snail mail address for fan mail:
Drew Carey
4000 Warner Blvd
Burbank, CA 91522

Q: Where have I seen Drew Carey before?
A: Carey made his national television debut on Star Search, but he only
made two appearances there. He later did his routine on The Tonight Show
where he was invited to the couch by Johnny Carson (the ultimate compliment
to a stand-up comic in those days). While being interviewd, Drew joked with
Ed about his lack of success on Star Search. He did a standup special on
cable few years ago titled "Human Cartoon" and in 1994 he was on an NBC
sitcom titled "The Good Life." He was also in the Coneheads movie, but
nobody saw that anyway.
Q: Why does Drew wear those glasses and have that haircut?
A: According to at least one interview, he got used to dressing that way
while in the United States Marines.
Q: Which one is Oswald and which one is Lewis?
A: Oswald is the one with black hair (Jethro from the Beverly Hillbillies
movie).
Q: What happened to Drew's girlfriend?
A: Early in the second season Lisa moved in with Drew in a desperate
attempt to save their relationship. By the end of that episode, they broke
up by mutual decision. Lisa later married a co-worker that Drew was already
planning to fire. After she eloped, she has not been seen on the show
again, but it was never revealed if she had left her job at Winfred-Lauder
or not.
Unfortunately, the Katy Selverstone Fan Page as left us too.
Q: What happened to Kate's boyfriend Jay?
A: The same episode that Lisa left Drew, Jay was offered a great job in
another state. He left Kate to take the job.
Q: What happened to Drew's old boss?
A: In the final episode of the first season, Winfred-Lauder was bought by a
Dutch company. They planned to fire all of the upper management so they
could hire their own people. Ultimately, Mr. Bell was the only one fired.
The audience saw Mr. Bell for the first time on his way out, and he was
played by Kevin Pollack (for at least) that night.
Q: How did Mimi ever get her job?
A: In the first episode she applied for a job at the makeup counter (the
job that Drew gave to Kate). When she was denied the job for the obvious
reasons, she threatened to sue the store, so Mr. Bell hired her as his
personal assistant.
Q: What are the words to the theme song?
A:
Moon over Parma,
bring my love to me tonight.
Guide her to East Lake
underneath your silvery light.
We met in Ashtabula.
She was doin' the hula.
I handed her my radishes
and pledged my love that night.
Moon over Parma,
won't you bring my love to me?
Shine on the freeway
and guide her AMC.
Get her past those radar Mounties.
Bring her to Lake County.
Moon over Parma tonight.
Moon over Parma,
shine on I two seventy-one.
We can get togehter
in the warm light of the sun.
I'm askin' you, don't fail.
Get her safely through Lindale.
I can't go to Parma 'cause
my Edsel will not run.
Moon over Parma,
where those pink flamingoes stand,
I need her kisses
and the soft touch of her hand.
We're goin' bowlin',
so don't lose her in Solin.
Moon over Parma tonight.
I said tonight.
Moon over Parma tonight.
Moon over Parma,
Moon over Parma,
Moon over Parma tonight.
words and music by Bob "Mad Dog" McGuire
I have been told that these are the entire lyrics, but I have not been able
to find the sheet music yet. "Mad Dog" told me it's in print, but the local
music store couldn't find it in their catalog.
If you would like to e-mail Mr. McGuire, his address is Ma...@aol.com.
The other theme song is "5:00 World" by the Vogues, but the management of
this FAQ hopes to see the return of the true theme and the banishment of
the imposter.
Q: What are Parma and Solon?
A: Suburbs of Cleveland.
Q: What was that song during production number for the second season
opener?
A: "5:00 World" by the Vogues.
Q: Why does Drew have a pool table in his backyard?
A: When Drew's dad brought the table home, Drew's mom would not allow it in
the house, so in defience, he kept it in the backyard. When Drew bought the
house, he kept the table in the yard for sentimental reasons.
Q: What's the story behind Drew's dog?
A: When Lisa moved in with Drew she brough her cat and several dogs that
she had just "inherited." Her parents had just moved and couldn't take the
dogs with them. Speedy had hip trouble, so he had to wear that wheel
contraption. When Lisa moved out, Drew asked to keep Speedy because he had
grown fond of the dog. Eventually, Drew falsified insurance forms to pay
for Speedy's operation.
Q: Why is there a Dilbert doll in Drew's cubicle?
A: According to Jay C Jachimiak:
Scott Adams once mentioned in the Dilbert newsletter that Drew Carey has an
eerie resemblance to Dilbert, and that there was a Dilbert cartoon on the
Drew's wall in one episode. He considering putting Carey on the Enemies
List.
Carey then emailed Adams, asking that he not be placed on the list and
offering in exchange to place some Dilbert mementos on the set of the show.
Adams agreed, and in a later episode Dilbert and Dogbert dolls were visible
on the screen. Adams named Carey "Saint Drew of Sitcoms" and Carey
responded by offering Adams a part on the show. Scott Adams will appear
this season as the new Human Resources director, Carey's boss, a character
inspired by Catbert. Adams is reportedly responding in kind by giving
Dilbert and Dogbert an outdoor pool table in an upcoming strip.
Q: What is Buzz Beer?
A: At the end of the first season, Drew was at a small business fair and
decided (upon a whim) to open a microbrewary in his garage. After an
episode of experimentation, the gang decided upon a coffee-flavored beer.
"Buzz Beer: Stay up and get drunk all over again."
Q: What kind of computer is that on Drew's Desk?
A: Drew is a dedicated MacUser (hey, nobody's perfect!), but the producers
did not want to have a product placement for Apple, so they covered up a
couple of letters, leaving "M C Tosh" showing.
Q: What is Ghoulardi?
A: Ghoulardi was a late-night Cleveland tv show in the 60's. Ghoulardi was
Ernie Anderson, who was later the announcer for The Carol Burnette Show and
most recently for America's Funniest Home Videos until he retired. Anderson
died at age 74 of lung cancer February 6, 1997. Drew's t-shirts are most
likely just another one of his tributes to Cleveland's local culture.
