I am new to the group, but I just found out about his death on March
19. I may have talked to him a few months before he passed.

Last year, I was watching the public access channel for Montgomery
County, MD. There was a Stand Up Comic show on Saturdays at Midnight.
At the end of the show, it listed a phone number and address if you
wanted to appear on the show.

Of course, I called because I really wanted to be on there. I had to
leave a message...who answers the phone at midnight?

In December, I got a letter explaining that what I saw was taped three
years ealier. Also, it explained that for health reasons, he had to
quit taping the show. I don't know whether it was Mac, or not, because
I didn't bother keeping the letter...my bad.

After receiving the letter, I called the number on the letter head and
got to speak with the sender. He was in good spirits. He indicated he
did not expect to get back into the industry because of his health,
but he encouraged me to keep performing.

If that was his show, has any attempts been made to start filming
again? Can someone tell me where they filmed?

Thanks!

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing you spoke with Larry Sheingorn, who used to
host a cable access show called GRINS in Mont. County.

Mac McClellan might have done the show -- I think everyone in Baltimore and
Washington did at one time.

Yo! Ernie san,

Mac was well known in comedy for over 25 years. Mac was doing
comedy in high school in Va. Beach and was performing with a group
called The Funny Farm before the big comedy boom in the 80s'. He was
an influence on all the Va. comics such as myself, Al Romas, Patton
Oswald and Tim Young. You couldn't have met a nicer guy.

About 12 years or so ago he moved up to Baltimore and married
Peggy and had 3 children. Up there he helped up and coming comics such
as Kelly Terranova and Mike "Queerbait" Aronin. He would take these
guys to gigs as his opener and helped them get in to rooms on his word
alone.

Mac used to always help comics with their material. Mac knew
something about everything. He was a trivia expert whether it was
music, comedy, movies or television.

Macs act was full of everything. Mac was not a purest
monologist and he didn't care what anyone thought about that. Mac had
a guitar, a briefcase with props and a ton of material. I worked with
him where getting a laugh was like pulling teeth but, when he got up
there, he was Mr. High Energy and the crowd would eat him up. He had
times where some comic would bail and not do all their time because
the crowd didn't like them and not only would he get up there and get
the crowd on his side, he'd do his time and the other guys time and
show the guy it's not always the crowd that sucks.

Mac was a true friend and never really got the credit he
deserved. So there you are Ernie my boy. Now, go to bed before Uncle
Charlie hears you.

Wow, Thanks, Chip!

I wish I had known him. It would be incredible to find a mentor like
that.

I would like to give props to Sean Jox(Jokes) at Jillians in the
Arundel Mills Mall. He has encouraged me to get into standup and has
given me as much mic time as I want.
