I know they were short, but I've never actually known how short. My guess - Moe
Larry and Curly, about 5'5'' and Shemp about 5'7''. I hope someone does know
the real answer.

In Moe's book he says he was 8" shorter than Ted Healy which would put him
at 5'4". Larry would be the same. I looked at several pictures in that book
and Larry's and would estimate both Curly and Shemp at 5'6".

Much shorter. Emil Sitka was a full head taller than the tallest Stooge
(notice in the films). I knew Emil well, and in person I was a full head
taller than he was. I am only six feet tall.

Hence, Emil was maybe 5ft 7 at the most. I would put the Stooges around the
5ft-to-5ft 4 inch range.

Look closely at the films -- none of the supporting players were likely as tall
as six feet (maybe Jock Mahoney, but he toward over the boys -- if Shemp were
5ft7, Jock would have been 7 feet tall).

Many of the actors back then were rather short (Jimmy Cagney comes to mind),
but tall in talent.
