What was the name of the episode where the guys
invented a fountain-pen that would write under whipped
cream (I think Shemp was dreaming this)?
The only part I can remember at the moment is when
Moe is demonstrating the device to a buyer and he says
"Would you care to make out your check for $50,000
now or later".
That scene really cracks me up. Anyway, I'm going to rent
it when I find out the name.

Thanks
John

There are two films which utilize this footage. The first was Heavenly
Daze (1948), the second was Bedlam in Paradise (1955). Unlike most of
the remakes, Bedlam in Paradise had a really good added scene, in which
the devil (played by Phil van Zandt) and his female assistant devil
(played by Sylvia Lewis) tempt Shemp in a musical/dance number. Shemp's
movements are priceless. Most of the remakes were done to save money
and therefore most "new" footage in them were shot cheaply, but this has
pretty good production values and its funny, too!

The title was "Heavenly Daze" (1948), And remade as " Bedlam in
Paradise" (1955). A cute episode in which Shemp dies and gets told by
an angel- Moe as Uncle Mortimer complete with wings, that to enter
heaven Shemp must go back to earth and reform Moe and Larry. They are
trying to sell the old pen that writes under whipped cream invention for
$50,000. This is also the short in which Larry gets a pen stuck in his
forehead- for real. I believe Moe was to originally play God
but the censors were against it. Altogether a worthy short with unusual
elements.
For any Shemp fan it is one of the few times that Moe gets nailed by
another Stooge without the usual consequences.

call 1-800-3-stooge and buy the shemp episodes of heavenly daze, the ghost
talks and hokus pokus for just $14.99. Tell the operator that you want volume
58 #sgvt58.
I think it will be hard to find that particular episode to rent and watch
because those shemp episodes were recently released onto video tape within the
past 2 years.

Not in Heavenly Daze. As I mentioned in my above message, Van Zandt was
in the remake, "Bedlam in Paradise," in which he plays the devil and his
earthly counterpart Mr. Heller.

Actually, it was two episodes, Heavenly Daze and Bedlam in Paradise. B
in P was the first, and much of the stock footage was used in Daze.

Now get some sleep!

I believe you're wrong too, Gary. Heavenly Daze was first, and Bedlam in
Paradise was shot later. Heavenly Daze was shot in 1948 and was Shemp's
12th film. Bedlam in Paradise was a remake of Heavenly Daze with stock
footage. It also included few scenes as well. It was made in 1955.
Thankyou
