Dee Green passed away at least 5 to 10 years ago. My cousin's wife,
who lives in Rockford, Illinois, knew her during her last years.
After retiring from films, Ms. Green became a high-school music and
drama teacher in Rockford. Evidently she spoke quite fondly of her
years in Hollywood, and of her work with the Stooges. I was told that
she was a very sweet, attractive woman, not at all like the woebegone
characters she played in the movies.

Thanks for the info. It is truly appreciated. Please note, though, that "Emil"
was my fathers name. He gave each of his five sons, including me, his first
name as a middle name, but my first name is Saxon. I wouldn't want anyone to
think I was trying to impersonate my father. Although being called Emil is
certainly no insult to me, it's just not accurate. FYI, my father (Emil Sitka)
was pretty creative about first names. His children are named, in order of
appearance: EElonka, Rudigor, Storm, Tao, Darrow, Saxon (that's me), and
Little-Star. The first and last are daughters, the rest are sons.

Saxon is indeed Emil's son, and is doing a terrific job helping to preserve his
dad's legacy. Many of us in the newsgroup were good friends with Emil, Ellwood
Ullman, Jules White, Joe Besser. And most of us are still in contact with Ed
Bernds, although, sadly, he reportedly won't be with us much longer.

Hello Stephen-
I do really appreciate your kind words about my father. I must say that I am
the one to feel honored whenever someone acknowledges the contributions of my
father Emil Sitka. Ever since he died about two years ago, I have strived to
uphold the memory of his life and to commemorate his acting career. I know I
didn't have anything to do with his wonderful contributions to the work of the
Stooges, but I've been trying to get accustomed to representing him properly for
the many fans that want to express their appreciation and gratitude. On the few
occassions that I am asked to sign my name as an autograph, I honestly feel like
an "imposter" simply because I don't deserve the credit. But I have come to
understand that Emil meant a lot to a lot of sincerely earnest fans. And, as
incongruous as it may sometimes seem to me, knowing that meeting me and other
"heirs" of the stars of those great old film comedies is as close as most of
them will ever be able to get to their heroes, has made me acutely aware of a
responsibility to receive their appreciation with humility and gratitude. Once
again, let me say that it is my honor to communicate with you and this
extraordinary newsgroup, and the many others that have expressed their warm
sentiments about my father. Other than that, I'm just another guy dealing
(still) with the loss of his beloved father.
(Sorry to you all for straying so far from the thread of Dee Green)
