Actress Dee Green appeared with the Stooges in a number of shorts. She
mostly played unique roles that not only demonstrated her acting skill,
but also her "good nature" and willingness to be the brunt of some
brutal fun-poking (e.g. "I'm Baggie" from Stone Age Romeos as well as
the singer/bride in Brideless Groom). Does anyone have any information
about her or know whatever became of her?

I always liked Dee Green in "Brideless Groom," because she was the only woman
who really wanted to marry Shemp, and somehow, they seemd "right" together. The
only stooge couple I ever really believed.

Hey Emil. Here's the list I pulled from the movie database. Not all* our
with the Stooges but several non-Stooge movies had your "namesake" Emil in
them. No personal details about her though :(

Dee Green passed away at least 5 to 10 years ago. My cousin's wife,
who lives in Rockford, Illinois, knew her during her last years.

After retiring from films, Ms. Green became a high-school music and
drama teacher in Rockford. Evidently she spoke quite fondly of her
years in Hollywood, and of her work with the Stooges. I was told that
she was a very sweet, attractive woman, not at all like the woebegone
characters she played in the movies.

Saxon ! I'm on shaky legs right now & feeling dizzy! Are you telling me that
your father is the same Emil Sitka that starred with the 3 Stooges ?! If so
I'm honoured to meet you! I always loved his characters & have a copy of an
interview of Emil including his memories of Moe's passing. Please don't pull
my leg...I thought you just added "Emil" as a nickname. My Dad nicknamed me
Curly & it still sticks (although I had to give up the haircut at 14 as I
really was out of style with the teen world).

Thanks for the info. It is truly appreciated. Please note, though, that "Emil"
was my fathers name. He gave each of his five sons, including me, his first
name as a middle name, but my first name is Saxon. I wouldn't want anyone to
think I was trying to impersonate my father. Although being called Emil is
certainly no insult to me, it's just not accurate. FYI, my father (Emil Sitka)
was pretty creative about first names. His children are named, in order of
appearance: EElonka, Rudigor, Storm, Tao, Darrow, Saxon (that's me), and
Little-Star. The first and last are daughters, the rest are sons.

Saxon is definitely not pulling your leg. He's a regular contributer to the

Well I am honoured! Being new to this newsgroup is my only excuse. I was so
excited that I had been in touch with Saxon that I had to tell my daughter
(who was deep in study over school exams in morning) & then to my wife. I
was like a little kid again. They thought I had cracked up. I've been lucky
to meet a number of famous people in the last few years and this goes to the
top of my list!

Saxon is indeed Emil's son, and is doing a terrific job helping to preserve his
dad's legacy. Many of us in the newsgroup were good friends with Emil, Ellwood
Ullman, Jules White, Joe Besser. And most of us are still in contact with Ed
Bernds, although, sadly, he reportedly won't be with us much longer.

That's great! I was broken hearted in '75 when Moe passed away. I heard
Curly Joe was ill & even had his mail address but never stopped to send him
a card of cheer & remind him that he made me laugh so many times in good
times & bad. He passed on. When news of Emil flashed across the TV I had
tears from my eyes. My wife didn't say anything: she knew I lost someone
dear to my heart. Why didn't I write Moe, Curly Joe or Emil just to say
thanks? I loved them all. I managed to fly out west to finally meet my idols
The Ventures , the #1 instrumental band on earth for 40 years! I wanted to
meet them so bad bad despite being ill myself at the time. So after being a
fan since '64 I was ushered up to meet the 4 musicians by fellow internet
friends who introduced me to them one by one! My thrill of a life time. i
did it for me but I did it also in memory of child-hood heroes like the 3
Stooges. Hopefully one day I may take a walk near where they all now rest.
If there is a heaven, i hope I can finally say hi & thanks for making me
smile during my brief stay on earth.

Stephen :)

Thanks for the kind reply. I too should apologise for leading the thread
astray. We just finished celebrating daughter #1's 18 Th birthday when I
turned on the news. Emil's passing brought tears to my eyes while a brief
biography was given but I was quickly smiling ear-to-ear as I heard his
immortal voice saying "Hold Hands You Love Birds!" & saw his hiss portrait
smiled on the TV screen.

Hello Stephen-
I do really appreciate your kind words about my father. I must say that I am
the one to feel honored whenever someone acknowledges the contributions of my
father Emil Sitka. Ever since he died about two years ago, I have strived to
uphold the memory of his life and to commemorate his acting career. I know I
didn't have anything to do with his wonderful contributions to the work of the
Stooges, but I've been trying to get accustomed to representing him properly for
the many fans that want to express their appreciation and gratitude. On the few
occassions that I am asked to sign my name as an autograph, I honestly feel like
an "imposter" simply because I don't deserve the credit. But I have come to
understand that Emil meant a lot to a lot of sincerely earnest fans. And, as
incongruous as it may sometimes seem to me, knowing that meeting me and other
"heirs" of the stars of those great old film comedies is as close as most of
them will ever be able to get to their heroes, has made me acutely aware of a
responsibility to receive their appreciation with humility and gratitude. Once
again, let me say that it is my honor to communicate with you and this
extraordinary newsgroup, and the many others that have expressed their warm
sentiments about my father. Other than that, I'm just another guy dealing
(still) with the loss of his beloved father.
(Sorry to you all for straying so far from the thread of Dee Green)
