Agreed, especially as it has many disturbing aspects to it.

Blocker's mutant
The poison-coated gold
The ticker tape in Sitka's mouth
the death of the aliens

As a kid it scared me

Outer Space Jitters is certainly not one of the better Joe episodes, but I
don't think it is the worst. In fact, I like it better than even a handful of
Curly and Shemp shorts.

Talk of the Besser shorts reminds me: what was up with the hairdos in some
of those Besser shorts? There's a few of them where Moe and Larry wore
their hair slicked back and "normal" (i.e., no bangs for Moe, no frizz for
Larry). Whose bright idea was it to mess with one of the most singularly
unique cxharacteristics of the Stooges, their hair?

That was Besser's idea. They would have actually done it more, but it would
have clashed with the stock footage that made up so much of the shorts by then.

I don't think it worked, but I'll credit the Joe shorts with trying out new
ideas.

The Stooges were at the end of their run at this time.Joe Besser had a long
run with Columbia already so his character was pretty firm. It was Besser
who suggested that Moe & Larry comb their hair straight back to look more
like gentlemen.Larry didn't mind this at all since he lost some of his hair
everytime he frizzed it out.
they went back to the old styles because they used a lot of old footage to
keep the cost as well as shooting schedule low.-Jay

When you do 190 shorts for one company over a period of nearly three
decades, and when you are considered to be the bastard department of the
movie company thereby guarenteeing you a low budget, you're going to
make some cluckers.

Most people agree that because of the budget constraints, tired writing,
and general age of the Stooges that the Besser shorts are low quality.
But let's not forget boners with Shemp like Cuckoo on a Choo Choo, or
ones with Curly like Rhythm and Weep.

By the way in my humble opinion the worst Joe short was Sweet and Hot.
Pretty tough to get humor out of child abuse.
