Hey Guys

During many of Curly's "La dee dee, La dee da" routines, I think I've heard
him sing other lyrics like "the boys," "the trees" and "the beautiful music"
Can anyone clarify and elaborate on what he said?

Thanks

Tom S

He sang a lot of stuff.

Knock-kneed and bow-legged,
with a cauliflower ear....."

.. someday we shall be married
and if vegetables are dear
I'll slice myself a little piece
of her cauliflower ear
(cause that ain't rationed)

Actually, what I was referring to was his lyrics that he interjects while
doing the la dee dee; la dee da. He sings about "the boys and the trees" or
something like that

I'm guessing he's singing "...the boids in the trees."

In "Sock-a-Bye Baby":

I was born in Brazil
and raised in a tree
When they chopped down the tree I fell down.

I can't remember the rest of it! Something about being put on a boat
back to New York town.

That makes sense, I didn't figure in the New York accent.
Thanks

In LOCO BOY MAKES GOOD Curly just sings to himself: "To the creek with
the boys I'm going... far away, far away, lullaby... I'll sing to the
boys, the beautiful water, and a SWING..." (And I should be worried
that I can cite that from memory...)

Moe Howard once said that Curly was not very good with dialogue --
lines were a problem for him, so he'd frequently make something up
while the camera was rolling. The singing "la lee, la la," etc., is
typical Curly ad-libbing.

I recall one of the shows he was singing..."Oh there was a Japanese
salesman...and he had a Japanese wife...What am I saying, Poo on the
Japanese!"

Don't ask me what short it's from.

You guys are real close, but here it is exactly:

She was bred in old Kentucky
But she's only a crumb up here
She's knock-kneed and double-jointed
With a cauliflower ear
Some day we shall be married
And if vegetables get too dear
I'll cut myself...a nice big slice...of her cauliflower ear
'Cause that ain't rationed

I watched the Stooges every day after school all through grade school!
And I'm a girl!

Oh yes, you're forgetting

B-A-Bay, B-E-Bee, B-I-Bicky-Bye, B-O-Bo, Bicky-Bye-Bo B-U-Boo
Bicky-Bye-bo-Boo!

(Curley's a dope)

I always loved it when the three of them sang in barbershop-style harmony, as when they were moving that huge cannon into position for target practice (You sank the admiral's flagship?")

"Oh, you'll never know just what tears are
'Till you cry like you made me cry....."

Or when being the entertainment in a restaurant to celebrate the reunion of a little girl and her daddy who had been kidnapped:

Home, home on the range, on the range,
where the deer and the antelope play
Our apple pie's fine
(Curly) I'll take custard for mine
(M & L) OH, CUSTARD! (As they nail Curley with a custard pie in the face)
And now everything is oh-jay
Oh..it's..oh-jay...!! (as Curley nails their faces with pies)

Oh, if we only had them around today! I even loved Shemp! (They all said he was the funniest Stooge offstage)
