Actually, Mark, there are only three Columbia shorts where the Stooges =
are supposed to be plumbers:
(1) "A-Plumbing We Will Go", released 4/19/40, with Curly; (2) "Vagabond =
Loafers", released 10/6/49, with Shemp, it's remake; and (3) "Scheming =
Schemers", released after Shemp's death on 10/4/56, which as you know =
was a piecework remake of "Vagabond Loafers" with footage from =
"A-Plumbing We Will Go" and the pie-fight from "Half-Wit's Holiday."
"Half-Wit's Holiday" (Curly's last feature and the first with Emil =
Sitka) was a remake of "Hoi Polloi" (8/29/35), and "Pie and Guys" with =
Joe Besser was a remake of "Half-Wit's Holiday." Neither of them had =
anything to do with plumbing.
There was also a Columbia short named "Pick a Peck of Plumbers" =
(7/23/44), featuring El Brendel and Shemp Howard, that was a remake of =
"A-Plumbing We Will Go." In the feature film "Meet the Baron" =
(10/20/33), Ted Healy and His Stooges (Moe, Larry and Curly) play =
janitors at a women's college, where in a risque scene they "repair" the =
water pipes in the girl's shower.

------=_NextPart_000_01BC6FAB.52857520--
I'm trying to figure out how many, and the names, of all of the stooges
shorts where they are plumbers.
I know the obvious one, "A Plumbing We Will Go", but I'm also interested
in the one where there is the additional sub-plot with Christine McIntyre
and Kenneth McDonald who are art thieves. This is the one with what I
think is one of the funniest exchanges of lines ever:
Dudley Dickerson, with his foul weather gear on (after all of the wires
are yanked out of the electrical conduit and water is hooked up) bumps
into the two of them wandering in the mansion and says "Can I help you
folks?" Christine McIntyre says "We are just looking for a glass of
water.", and Dudley Dickerson says "Well, just turn on anything... You'll
get it."
I think I remember reading a note a few weeks ago, here that this was a
Shemp short called "Scheming Schemers". Well, when I looked it up in the
filmography, I found that this was made after Shemp's death with stock
Shemp footage from "Vagabond Loafers", and this one ("Scheming Schemers"
was done with a Shemp stand in. Further filmography searching leads me to
believe that this was done again with Joe Besser as "Pies and Guys". A
bit more searching leads me to believe that this may have been done as a
Curley in (his last) "Half-Witts Holiday".
