I think they sang to the mistress "Trelane" in an episode set in
medieval England. They lyrics included the line "Your sweetheart
Sedgewick's here." The one where they boys have to stop the wedding
trumpets by throwing fruit at/into them (or am I confused?)

Hi folks,
I made the attempt to stay up and watch the whole 6 hours of The 3 Stooges
on TBS last Sat. night. Needless to say, after working 12 hours and another
8 to go on Sun, I didn't watch the whole thing. I DID tape the whole thing
and snooze about 1.5 hrs before getting awake to change tapes. I DID catch
my favorite scene though: In "Violence Is The Word For Curly", the boys
are mistaken as new professors at a college. Some student poses a question which
of course they can't answer and Moe introduces the song "Rhyming The Alphabet"
I watched that 10 times in a row! It's my favorite part and I realized that if
they
did their own singing, their voices were actually pretty good! Now, for
some questions:

a) Are there any other scenes in other shorts where the Stooges sing?

b) In the above mentioned scene, was the line "Curly's a dope" intentional
(did the boys know it was coming?) or was it done as an "inside job"
by the students? It looked from Curly's reaction to genuinly catch them
by surprise!

c) What are some other favorite scenes that you folks have?

I believe this tune is the "Sextet - Lucia de Lammermoor" by Donizetti.

Moe also sings the fish song in "Booby Dupes" (1945, Hugh McCollum) where
the trio are fish mongers. Although not one of their best, is among my
favorites, mostly because of the song, the week old fish, and curly
attacking fish with an axe and sinking their boat.

Song went (in response to a prospective customer's question,
"What kind of fish have you got today?"):

"We have rock cod, sea bass, albecore and pickerel,
sandab, yellowtail, tunafish and mackerel,
bluefish, sailfish, carp and tarpon if you wish,
swordfish, whitefish, herring and gefilte fish,

(with Larry and Babe) And that ain't allllllll."

What is "Swinging the Alphabet"?
Is that the lovable song that goes...
"b a ba, b e be, b i bicky by b o bu bicky by bo be ba by bicky bi bo bu...
c..."
ad nauseam?

Yes, that is the song. Itt showed up in the short "Violence Is The Word For
Curly".
After the first two verses (letters or so), the rythem, beat, tempo of
the song changed, but keeping the same pattern. It's my favorite short.

Yes, and you can get it on LP record, too (of kid songs). Moe, Larry,
and Curley Joe cut an LP back in the early 1960s. Last I knew, Rhino
records still had the rights for the reissue, and did so. I'd imagine
they still do.

Moe: We're in a tough spot, men.
Larry: Yeah, it's gonna take BRAINS to get us outta here!!
Moe: THAT'S why I said we're in a tough spot!
