There is an episode (which I can't identify at this time) where the Stooges are
eating at a formal dinner table. I beleive they were hired by a woman who
thought they were from an escort service, when in actuality they are
exterminators (Acme). In the background is this lovely music playing, which
continues till they walk into the next roon where a 3 guys playing sound like a
full orchestra. I think this music may have been used in another eposode.

Does anyone have a clue what it is? When it comes to this, I suffer from
vacancy of the cranium.....

best Regards,
AL

"Termites of 1938" (1/7/38)

The first tune in the dining room is called "Flirtation" and the second
is "Paula." Both composed by Victor Schertzinger, both tunes used in
previous Columbia films.
The music the Stooges play on the record player is called, "Frederic
March" (same name as the actor!). Composed by Howard Jackson and Raphael
Penso, who both worked for Columbia Pictures.
"Frederic March" is also heard in the Stooges' shorts: "Dutiful but
Dumb" (3/21/41), "Three Little Twerps" (7/9/43), "Idle Roomers" (7/16/44),
"Gents Without Cents" (9/22/44), "Gents in a Jam" (9/4/52), and "Pardon My
Backfire" (8/15/53).

Info. by Richard Finegan ['The Three Stooges Meet Frederic March: More
Stooge Film Music Identified' in "The Three Stooges Journal", Spring 1999,
(Issue #89), p. 5.]

"The scene during which the Stooges demonstrate their peculiar style of
table etiquette to the party guests is accompanied by some lovely music,
among the most charming in any Stooge film." [quote by Richard Finegan, see
below]

While we're on the subject, does anyone know the name of the rumba music
in " The Sitter-Downers " ? This is the one tune ( besides 'Swinging the
Alphabet ' ) that I've never been able to forget. My brother and I used
to hum that one all the time to break our parents up ! Plus, ya got to
love the dancing executed by Moe and espcially, Curly.

I think you might be referring to #77, "Crash Goes The Hash" (1944) where
they become newspapermen and take pictures.
Curly loses his pants on the dance floor after his dance partner rips
them off to try to pull him up!
Moe says, "I got enough pictures to hang everyone in the joint."
This is also the episode where on the dance floor, Moe's partner loses
her skirt. "Somebody lost her skirt!" Then she realizes it's her own and
she runs to the ladies' room.
I believe this is the short where that intoxicating, rumba music is from
you referred to. No words, as in "Swingin' The Alphabet."
Maybe Richard Finegan will identify that piece of music when he gets to
it in "The Three Stooges Journal" in Issue #92 Winter 1999 or #93, Spring
2000.

Yes ! That's the one. Appreciate the correction. I'll keep an eye out
for it in the Stooges Journal.
Thanks,
Gail
